The next installment of my Lockdown Lyrics Series … is appropriately LOCKDOWN BLUES
If I have ever written a song that requires no further explanation this is probably it.
Simple 12 Bar in E … anyone can and if you are in this situation, probably should play it.
LOCKDOWN BLUES – LYRICS
It was a time of masks and desperation empty streets and isolation
Freedom of speech put to rest silence the only approved protest
A time of draconian regulation confusion contusion and aggravation
Death by Covid you took your chances or was it due to stage 4 cancer
You look around and see disaster you ask the questions but get no answer
Panic buying toilet paper hoarding and economies they were imploding
A time of trouble and of all kinds of bubbles
2 hours 5 kilometers men at the door armed with thermometers
Wash your hands cover your face do as you please but stay in your place
8PM curfew without any reason to some its regrettable to others its treason
We’re locked up in Melbourne no way to escape the cops on guard right at your gate
It was ok for some to march for George Foster but a march for freedom is not on offer
We can’t believe it’s happening here keeping us locked up in a state of fear
Can’t mow the lawn can’t cut my hair or go out to the local for a wag and a beer
Can’t see my kids except on a screen not really sure if they know what that means
Don’t get married and you’ll die on your own no one can come to see your headstone
We’re stuffed at the moment no change in direction we’ll remember come the election
Can’t point the finger and blame it on others he made the decisions him and no other
It was a time of masks and desperation empty streets and isolation
A time of draconian regulation confusion contusion and aggravation
