PROFITS IN WAR – LYRICS

Don’t you see it folks its all just a ruse    every other day a scary story in the news

They trot another consultant to prophesise on the clues they’re talking up theory the threat is on the loose

Its just a mirage a hocus pocus stunt to make us all scared     of ghosts so they can build a bigger gun

Let’s be of scared of them they say they don’t like us none    let’s go get ‘em blast ‘em to Kingdom Come

Don’t be fooled people all those stories are just tools           They’re in for the money and they don’t care who gets killed

It won’t be their sons and daughters out on the firing line    They will all be safe at home you can bet your bottom dime

We should have learned by now this is how it goes   they show us photos of factories with men in white coats

They’ll soon be on the beaches if we don’t stop them now    they said that about Viet Nam how did that turn out

It’s just a protection racket oh the Mafia would be proud      the media is in game and they are screaming it out loud

Create a scary mass of anger that really isn’t there      don’t worry we’ll protect you   don’t pay if you dare

There’s no profit in peaceful coexistence just can’t take the path the path of least resistance

In advertising you create the need then the product to fill it then you sell it sell it with persistence

But you can’t advertise the weapons of war so they need to create the fear to make the big score

We fall for every time we swallow it hook lead and line and they go go to the bank with the profits of war

Oh we’re not in it for the money just patriotic you know  so we’re letting you know they’re comin its part of the show

Don’t hand me that crap I’ve seen this show before in Viet Nam, Afghanistan you profiting from war

When they come up on the beach I’ll be there to defend   call me when they get here I’ll meet you there and then

You can’t afford a new bridge or to feed the sick and poor but you don’t have any problem funding another war.

Don’t be fooled people all those stories are just tools           They’re in for the money and they don’t care who gets killed

It won’t be their sons and daughters out on the firing line    They will all be safe at home you can bet your bottom dime

In the continuing series of the Free Streaming releases of some of the songs from Bob Crain – LIVE

here is PROFITS IN WAR for your listening pleasure and your thinking displeasure.

The song basically says it all … little wars are being promoted and prosecuted for nothing more than profit. Profit for the Corporate Military Industrial Complex, profit for the private mercenary groups, profit for the sensationalist media … and “they don’t care who gets killed”.

The War Economy of the United States and other countries which have become dependent on the production and sales of military hardware, software, bombs, bullets, tanks, planes, ships guns, services and the rest are reliant on these little wars, created in other countries so you can’t see. Countries like Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Nigeria, Grenada, Serbia, Cuba the list goes on and they sell us these wars like they are selling shoes.

First comes the threats … “they show us photos of factories with men in white coats” or the saving the population from a nasty dictator (one who we don’t or did but don’t anymore support) scam. Then there is the tried and true, bought hook, line and sinker on several occasions, bringing democracy to the poor civilians (well the one’s that aren’t killed anyway) line.

They  trot out another consultant to prophesise on the clues” on the sensationalist media explaining how “they” will be landing on the beaches “if we don’t stop them now”. They can’t sell military hardware with TV advertising they have to instill a level of fear in the population so that they can continue to make bigger and better guns. It’s a very clever protection racket well run through the government who know that the economy relies on the production and sale of war to keep it going strong and so the politicians can retain their seats at the taxpayer funded pig trough.

The last line of the final verse is the real punch in the face for the citizens that are funding the profits of war … “You can’t afford a new bridge or to feed the sick and poor but you don’t have any problem funding another war.”

I could cite dozens of examples of the profitable little wars in my life and thousands of bits of “promotional” material fostered by the media … here’s just one recent one from Newsweek (they must be in financial trouble they are really working the Corporate/Political/Economic Military Industrial Complex line at the moment). You don’t need to read the article (they don’t want you to) just take in the headline     U.S. Military Could Lose War to Russia, China: Report”  so we need to build up (ie pour more of your tax dollars in to the pockets of the Corporate Military Complex) the military … you know the one the US already invests 66% of GDP in.

“Don’t be fooled people the stories are just tools, They’re in for the money and they don’t care who gets killed

It won’t be their sons and daughters out on the firing line, They will all be safe at home you can bet your bottom dime”
