LIFE’S A RODEO … “bumps and bruises winners and losers”

Clip from the Oliver Sean’s Certified Indie Songs of the Week Podcast

In the Music Business Arena these days an artist, songwriter, musician must always be on the lookout for opportunities to play, promote, expose one’s art to the outside world. It’s just not the old world anymore there is the internet … which changed the way people listened to music and the sources from which they heard music from. YouTube, Podcasts, Internet Radio, Spotify, SoundCloud, Facebook etc etc etc are now sources for listening to music both the old and the new.

I have been in the right place at the right time with the right song in respect to some opportunities for which I am thankful but admittedly many pass by like strangers in the night. You have to keep knocking on doors and if it opens slightly you gotta stick your best foot forward and keep it open as long as possible because in this business “when one door closes another one opens” … is not always the case.

I am very pleased to have been selected to have a couple of my songs played on Oliver Sean’s WOAFM99 Certified Indie Songs Of The Week Podcast circulated worldwide on the internet. The song being featured in the current podcast really speaks to the ups and downs of life general and especially for musician songwriters in the Music Biz these days, the song is LIFE’S A RODEO, and it certainly is.

LIFE’S A RODEO – AUDIO

Oliver’s comments about me and my music are pretty accurate, which you can hear in the Clip, I don’t write to fit into a box I write what I see, feel, hear, know and understand about the world. In OIiver’s interview with Damien Wyldes he makes some observations about songwriting in the Music Biz today, songwriters are writing songs to fit in to the industry’s boxes rather than writing from the heart and soul … luckily that mindset has not made it in to my songwriting.

Here is a link to the complete podcast including LIFE’S A RODEO, Oliver’s always has some great music on his podcasts, not every song will suit everyone’s fancy but that’s music … there are no facts just opinions. I especially like The Silvers – Another Trip Around The Sun but have a listen to them all and to the interview with American Damien Wylde … some insightful stuff in there.

LIFE’S A RODEO – LYRICS

Life is a rodeo with angry broncs and long horned bulls

Looking to throw you off you hangin on just long enough

There’s strength and class in some people you meet

Like a fast quarter horse ridin hard and ropin neat

Then there’s all those pretty distractions seemless pants and booted feet

You gotta take the bruises and the lumps and keep up with the beat

Out the chute hold on tight another ride in the rodeo of life

Every day’s another barrel race circle left and circle right

Out there with the clowns and frowns and the fallin downs

You gotta be in it all the way or just ride on out of town

If you can keep your wins and losses in clear perspective

Yeah strive for greatness but be satisfied with your best.

Another roundup rodeo startin just south of the creek

Ya got cowboys and cowgirls dressed up fancy neat

They got boots and stirrups rhinestones and leather chaps

All lined up at the gate you don’t want to be last

Life is a rodeo it’s not all flowers and lace bumps and bruises winners and losers

Get out of the chute hang on real tight yeah it just might be your turn tonight

If you get bucked off get back on your feet it’s all a part of life just to compete

Life is a rodeo get in to the game tonight your name could be on the trophy yeah it just might

So life is a rodeo giddy up giddy up Yeah life is just a rodeo so go on and cowboy up

You know life is a rodeo giddy up giddy up Yeah life is just a rodeo so go on and cowboy up
